24/7 Library Lockers

Pick up and return library items anytime!

Please note these Library Lockers will be available for use from mid-October. 

Can’t make it to the library during opening hours? Our Library Lockers make it easier to access your library when it suits you.

Located in Balnarring and Rosebud, the lockers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Library members can use them to:

  • collect items they’ve placed on reserve
  • return borrowed library items
  • access library services closer to home and at a time that suits them.

Our Library Lockers were jointly funded by Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Victorian Government through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

Who can use the Library Lockers?

Library Lockers are available to full Mornington Peninsula Shire Library members.

Not a member? 
Library membership is free. To use the Library Lockers to place holds and borrow items, you’ll need a full library membership.
If you currently have an online membership, visit your nearest library branch to complete your registration.

You can use a Library Locker to borrow and return most library items, including:

  • Books
  • DVDs and CDs
  • Magazines
  • Talking Books 

The following items cannot be collected or returned via Library Lockers: 

  • Inter-Library Loan items
  • Oversized or bulky items that do not fit in a locker compartment, such as induction cooktops and thermal cameras
  • Any other items identified by library staff as unsuitable for locker collection

The Library Locker is located outside, to the right of the main entrance at Tounnin Wominjeka Youth Hub. 

How to collect your library items

When placing a hold/reservation through the library catalogue, choose your preferred Library Locker as the pick-up location.

TOUNNIN-RB (Tounnin Wominjeka Southern Peninsula Youth Hub - Rosebud)

We’ll let you know when your items are ready to collect via text or email. You can then visit the locker and collect your items at a time that suits you.

At the locker

  1. Touch the screen to begin.
  2. Scan the barcode on your library card or enter your library card number using the on-screen keyboard.
  3. If you have items ready to collect, the Hold Items Available screen will appear.
  4. Select OK to view your available holds.
  5. Select the green Confirm button to borrow your selected items.
  6. The locker containing your items will open. Take your items and close the door.
  7. If your items are in more than one locker, the next locker will open after you close the first.
  8. When you’ve collected everything, select the red Log Out button on the touch screen. 
  9. Follow the prompts if you would like a receipt emailed to the email address linked to your library account.

Changed your mind about an item?
It’s easiest to collect the item from the locker first, then return it through the return slot.

How to return your library items

Did you know you can also return borrowed library items using the Library Lockers?

Follow these easy steps:

  1. Touch the screen and select Return from the main menu.
  2. The return door below the screen will open.
  3. Place your items into the return slot.
  4. Close the door.
  5. Select the blue Main Menu button.
  6. Select the red Log Out button, then select OK.

What happens if the Library Lockers are full?

If the return compartment is full, the return door will remain closed, and you won’t be able to return your items. Please try again later or call us on 5950 1710 for assistance.


How long will my items stay in the Library Lockers?

You'll receive a notification when your items are ready to collect.
 
The Items will remain available in the Library Lockers for a period of two weeks.
