Author Talk: Anna Downes & Naima Brown - Mornington Library

Next date: Thursday, 19 November 2026 | 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM

Join authors Anna Downes and Naima Brown as they discuss the art of storytelling and Anna's new book Dark Days Hotel, a deliciously dark and twisty thriller about health, wealth and our dangerous obsession with the two.

When an unidentified young woman dies outside a Tasmanian hospital, exhausted emergency nurse Liv becomes obsessed with uncovering her identity. Her search leads her to an exclusive wellness retreat on Tasmania’s wild coast, where beneath the promise of renewal and self-improvement lies a web of secrets, disappearances and unsettling truths. As Liv investigates, she must confront just how much a “better life” might really cost.

In conversation with fellow author Naima Brown, whose novels explore identity, ambition and contemporary culture with insight and wit, Anna will delve into the inspirations behind her latest work, the art of creating tension, and what draws readers to stories that explore the complexities of human behaviour.

Don’t miss this compelling evening with two outstanding Australian authors as they discuss writing, research and the stories that keep us turning pages late into the night.
